AREAS AFFECTED: City and Borough of Sitka; Prince of Wales Island
DESCRIPTION: ...PERIODS OF SNOW THROUGH MID WEEK... .Light snow continuing in various inland areas this evening. There should be a brief break in the snow tonight before more snow showers move in from the west Wednesday into Wednesday night. Snow accumulations will be highly variable Wednesday into Wednesday night with W to SW oriented slopes favored for higher snow totals. * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...City and Borough of Sitka and Prince of Wales Island. * WHEN...From 6 PM Wednesday to 4 PM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow accumulations will be highly variable with localized locations having a chance of seeing accumulations a few inches higher or lower then the above range.

Fog is technically a type of stratus cloud, which lies along the
ground and obscures visibility.
It is usually created when humidity in the air condenses into tiny water droplets.
Because of this, some places are more prone to foggy weather, such as regions
close to a body of water.
Fog is similar to mist; both are the appearance of water droplets suspended in
the air, but fog is the term applied to the condition when visibility is less than 1 km.

Freezing rain is a condition where precipitation which has fallen in the form of
