DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Washington... Skagit River Near Concrete affecting Skagit County. .Heavy rain over the Northern Cascades combined with high snow levels will push the Skagit River near Concrete above flood stage tonight. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Skagit River near Concrete. * WHEN...From Friday morning to late Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...At 28.0 feet, the Skagit River will flood low areas and sections of roads along the river from Rockport downstream to Sedro Woolley. This level for this location on the Skagit corresponds to a Phase 3 flood in the Skagit County flood system. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:15 PM PDT Thursday the stage was 26.8 feet. - Flood stage is 28.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow morning and continue to rise to a crest of 31.8 feet late tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stage late Saturday morning. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 31.4 feet on 10/28/1967. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
INSTRUCTION: Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped
hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.
When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area
of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical
gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific
to any geographic area.
Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole,
skypunch, and cloud hole.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.
