AREAS AFFECTED: Coastal Del Norte; Southwestern Humboldt
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Very cold temperatures as low as 22 expected for inland areas. Very cold temperatures as low as 27 expected for coastal areas. For the Wind Advisory, southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected. * WHERE...Del Norte Coast, and Southwestern Humboldt. * WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, until 9 AM PST Friday. For the Wind Advisory, from 10 PM Friday to 10 AM PST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Wind gusts will be particularly strong along windward ridges and exposed coastal headlands. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.
INSTRUCTION: Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

A contrail is an artificial cloud, created by the passing of an
aircraft.
Contrails form because water vapor in the exhaust of aircraft engines is suspended
in the air under certain temperatures and humidity conditions. These contrails
are called exhaust contrails.
Another type of contrail can form due to a temporary reduction in air pressure
moving over the plane's surface, causing condensation.
These are called aerodynamic contrails.
When you can see your breath on a cold day, it is also because of condensation.
The reason contrails last longer than the condensation from your breath is
because the water in contrails freezes into ice particles.
